Dreams about the past

Dreams about the past

I close my drowsy eyes,
And reality goes to sleep,
Opening a door where dreams lie,
Action and events dear to my heart deep.

Waking up to the call of a lapwing,
School kids race to catch the school bus,
Feeling the cool breeze of northern spring,
Buying milk and bread every morning without a fuss.

Chill dream of rolling fog reducing visibility,
Sights and smell of carrot halwa rose,
Warm winter afternoon promoting compatibility,
Cold morning hampering rouse.

Dreams of festival as a community affair,
Holidays spent meeting fellow mortals,
Streets and shops lit up till they glare,
Sometimes grouping to enter different portals.

Standing amongst people thoroughly friendly,
Friends who couldn’t leave you in grief,
Acquaintances helping to the edge of being meddley,
Fellows who encourage your avocation even if it’s brief.

Winds change directions,
Perceiving self in a different locus,
I spin and twirl in meditation,
Ceasing the dream to bring NOW into focus.
