Two Beings

Two Beings

Two beings awake at the middle of the night,
Both look at each other through the thick iron lines,
Each gearing up for the upcoming thunder and light,
Preparing their fragile minds.

One scampers to the nearest tin shelter,
Runs to get away from the rain pester,
The other looks on into the dark skies,
Could she see a plane fighting the thunder, as it flies?

Both are awake in the uncompromising night,
Battling inner fears with all their might,
The cat purrs from under the porch lantern,
While the lady awaits her husband’s return.
