Crawling
Creatures
It rained one
clammy evening,
Barely
wetting the top covering,
Though
humidity succeeded in increasing,
Sun hid
behind the cloud gathering.
Evening
passed the baton to night,
Insects of
sorts congregated to show might,
Using the
shadow of no light,
Bugs of grey
crept out of a package tight.
All of a
sudden the floor moved.
Filling in
with grey worms in black groove,
Observed to
see their body had segments,
Crawling in
search of compost to break and bend.
Came out of a
bag of decaying compost,
Later found
these worms are the good sort,
Belong to the
family of notorious fly,
Best in
decomposing waste that isn’t dry.
An ugly sight
to be seen,
Brings out
the sudden urge to clean,
Every nook
ever corner inspected,
Stepping in
tip-toes with creature expected.
Finally
satisfied with the work completed,
The bag of
worms disposed undetected,
The land
sprayed with chemicals,
The floor
cleaned with dusted medicals.
Now very wary
of starting compost new,
Lest the unpleasant
creepy crawlies invade o'er,
Unable to do
my part in protecting nature,
Still search
for apt way to nurture.
