Sounds, the English Way

The English language,

To read it right,

At first sight,

With its many complex ways.

You hiss like a snake,

Your floating fish deflate,

You gurgle water down the drain,

You glide like an aeroplane,

With vowels that talk long and short,

With dancing cuckoo’s and buzzing bee’s on the spot,

We get sounds for every letter in the English tree.

Here letters jump to regroup,

Bullying is norm for this troop,

When each letter has preferences,

Or saying words is added expenses,

And yet there are some,

Who work only in unison.

Where 42 sounds have a story to tell,

An action to act,

A song to etch upon the fact,

And a formation of sinks and swells!

You break a word at intervals,

To avoid spelling troubles,

You learn to blend initially and finally,

And I am not talking colourfully.

The English language,

To read and write,

At every sight.

I learn it without a literary fight.
